AUTUMN QUANTA II: Shrinking Returns

AUTUMN QUANTA II: Shrinking Returns

An Audio Visual Spatial Interpretation of the Pandemic from Ancient Inspirations

October 24, 20:00
The Pitfall Ensemble performs De Rerum Natura: Plague Music (Moving Image Scores). The Pitfall Ensemble is devoted to unusual scores, arrangements for spatially deployed music and site specific locations for performance. Pitfall now creates an annex for its original undertaking of creating a music work derived from Lucretius’ latin poem about scientific observations: De Rerum Natura (“On the Nature of Things”).
The last pages of De Rerum Ranta describes the plague as the natural end of humankind.

For this annex, The Pitfall Ensemble invites visual artists and its own members to develop visual motion scores which will be projected as a means for the ensemble to interpret the moving images. Three very different approaches to plague music in the 360º Kunstkapel will be the result. Featuring: Miriam den boer, Dirk Bruinsma, Maripepa Contreras, George Dumitriu, Lucija Gregov, Jan Willem van der Ham, Mary Oliver, Salvoandrea Lucifora, Aaron Lumley, Pau Sola Masafrets, Camille Verhaak and Rogier Hornman. With compositions by Dirk Bruinsma, Marit Shalem and by Andreas Tegnander and Max van der Wal.

The Afterwords Searchparty featuring Anthony Murrell and Lise Brenner will explore and atomize the work of Lucretius with visual interpolations in the performance Atomizing Terms for De Rerum Natura VI.

Surface to Volume performs The Quantum Entanglements & Figures. This group is frequently concentrated on the infinitesimal in its attempt to derive a different dynamic for visual music and hidden drama. Presented here as a preamble is a brief index of motifs to be featured in a sprawling if appropriately minuscule project.

Diamond Sutra Factory Workshop

The Congress of Glassolallia IV
Continuing performances from the Diamond Sutra Factory Workshop.

March 14, 20:00
The Equinox Ragweed Variations: The Vast Grey Area (The Congress of Glassolallia V)

March 21, 20:00
The Warp presents the final installments of the changing collection of interdisciplinary multi media performances based on the material and concept of glass, which has been the basis of the Warp’s annual winter production workshop dubbed The Diamond Sutra Factory Workshop. The project is inspired by its locations, The Ascher Diamond Factory and the Glasshouse of the Amstelpark. Now the project arrives at the Kunstkapel with eight projects have been developing side by side and every assembly of performed projects has been completely different. The event includes a concert of glass, reflective sounds and reverberating images.

Five distinct projects will be presented this evening which explore the mysteries of glass, light, optics, reflectiveness and the unique spaces of altarity which it conjures. The audio visual spatial installation which is the setting for all of these projects  is a result of an ongoing performance, The Glass Chain Correspondence by the October Collective which is created by exchanged drawings and correspondence by the participants. The result in the Kunstkapel is an arrangement of twenty nine glass sheets an array of glass objects and a mound of broken glass.

The Ensemble Todo Modo (Alan Purves, Dirk Bruinsma, Robbert van Hulzen, Frank Rosaly, Tristan Renfrow  and Christian Smith) will perform a set of Glassolallias, music made entirely by invented glass instruments instruments as well as common household objects of glass. The ensemble will also perform another work Obscryations developing a different approach towards the glass.

The Supernumeraries (Maria Mavridou, Stefania Petroula and Astarti Athanasiadou) will perform a movement piece, Death Note Shard.

The Afterwords Searchparty (Lise Brenner and Anthony Murrell) will contribute an audio visual experience The Minutaie: The Sharpening Motes, involving the text of The Diamond Sutra.

From its Refractive Index, Surface to Volume will show new sections arranged by Andreas Tegnander, exploring the genesis of glass insects, flora and fauna and its sonic environs

The Paraneural Record will perform Glassary of the Scrying Light with one section conducted by Alan Purves which will explore the occult practice of scying through the reverberations in the glass.

The Equinox Ragweed Variations: The Vast Grey Area – March 21, 20:00
The final event of Winter Diamond Sutra Factory Workshop will occur one week later on the Vernal Equinox at the Kunstkapel, entitled The Equinox Ragweed Variations: The Vast Grey Area. All of the eight participating group projects present a new variation on their work while confronting on the one hand, the moment of equivalence that occurs on the equinox, as well as the emergence of an all encompassing grey. Grey glass, grey matter, grey scales.

October Rambles II

Little Peripatetic Buildings

Saturday October 19 2019, 20:00

Multimedia Interdisciplinary Performance by: The IrkSumSet, The Schoolalmamahler

During October Rambles II: Little Peripatetic Building The Warp pays special tribute to the Bauhaus School, which was established in 1919, a century ago. Bauhaus has had an incalculable impact on modern art, design and architecture. This of course rings true for the architecture of the Kunstkapel, where the performance will take place. It is a 360 degree curved minimalistic white space, that demands a response, which can be seen as a typical Bauhaus tendency. The pursuit of many ideas at once (rambles) will be continued during the second evening of October Rambles, and Bauhaus will be taken as an inspiration to replicate the spirals within spirals in the curved space of the Kunstkapel.

One Way or Many?

Saturday September 28 2019, 20:00

Multimedia Interdisciplinary Performance by: Valekriy, Thomas Mohr, Matteo Marangoni & Dieter Vandoren

Rambles are generally thought of as winding circuitous paths that may draw one through a complex and even daunting terrain. And so The Warp’s three audiovisual spatial performances this autumn will make twists and turns. October Rambles wants to establish a labyrinth that alters our experience of the 360 degree round Kunstkapel space. The notions of continuous detour, digression, and reorientation are inherent in the idea of rambles. With this theme The Warp invites you to explore aimlessly with open ended expectations.
